HIV notifications in New Zealand (by year)
Number of people diagnosed with HIV in New Zealand by year of diagnosis.
2001 includes all those first diagnosed overseas prior to 2002, who had previously not been recorded. From 2002 onwards, the number of people first diagnosed overseas in included in each annual total.
Prior to 2008, those identifying as Transgender were not recorded separately, instead they were included as part of the male total each year. From 2008 onwards we have an accurate record of transgender HIV diagnosis in New Zealand.
